Lithology and Thickness
Limestone and Volcaniclastics. A suite of marine carbonate rock intercalated with clastic rock in the upper Yarkant River, consisting of dark-gray and yellow-gray massive limestone, organic limestone and reel limestone, intercalated with minor black-gray clayey siltstone and slate. In the Taxkorgan area, this group becomes dominated by volcanic and pyroclastic rocks. The exposed thickness varies greatly from 263 m to thousands of meters.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact onto the underlying Lower Carboniferous Pasi Gr (SW Xinjiang, column 21) or Lower Carboniferous Shuangxiandaban Fm (Tibet Doima district area; column 60b)
